Drawing Inspirations

Another well know artist that i draw inspiration from for my music is non other than MR Steven Hiroyuki Aoki (born November 30, 1977) is an American electro house musician, record producer, DJ, and music executive. In 2012, Pollstar designated Aoki as the highest grossing dance artist in North America from tours. He has collaborated with producers and vocalists such as will.i.am, Afrojack, LMFAO, Linkin Park, Iggy Azalea, Lil Jon, Laidback Luke, BTS, Louis Tomlinson, and Fall Out Boy and is known for his remixes of artists such as Kid Cudi. Aoki has released several Billboard-charting studio albums as well, notably Wonderland, which was nominated for Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronica Album in 2013. is the founder of the Steve Aoki Charitable Fund, which raises money for global humanitarian relief organizations. In comparison Armin on the other hand, has spent the majority of his career as a trance producer/DJ, and unlike Aoki he wasn’t or hadn’t been able to be as much of a house producer until 2015 when he released (unsatisfying-ly) his latest album “Embrace”, from then he began making less trance and more catchy + poppy sounds on his tracks. Compared to Aoki.

Armin did not make many collaborations with different genres outside of electronic music. He tends to focus more on the emotional side through his uplifting melodies, allowing the listeners to lose themselves in the space of music.Aoki was also involved in student activism at UCSB, being the founder of a Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League chapter on campus.By his early 20s, Aoki had built his own record label, which he named Dim Mak – a reference to his childhood hero, Bruce Lee.

Steve draws his sounds from the inspirational environments and vibes from the good people he surrounds himself with, thus drawing attention from a large loyal following that love and honour the uniqueness of his amazing sound. I draw my own inspiration from his sound and humbleness if i ever had the opportunity to work along side someone like Steve Aoki for me would be a dream come true.

First of all, it is immediately taken into account, that Aoki is a house (and partially dubstep) DJ/producer, he makes music for the masses, which is why he is so popular among the world. As his ethnicity of being American also helps him gain collaborations through other genres such as hip hop, pop, R&B, etc. Because of these influences, Hiroyuki focuses mainly on the beats and making listeners move along and get “high
