A Track That drove me nuts

The inspiration from this peace has definitely changed after the originally concept and lead sheet came to mind. This song represents a deep sympathy of the unknown, to myself as I structurally learn more and more every week from this course and the teachers involved with my learning process and the journey.

The original idea for this song was taken from a super Mario cart game that I played last holidays with one of my kids, the inspiration was drawn from my 13 YEAR OLD LAUGHING at me not being able to drive the kart in a game and kindly laughed and says to me “hey mum would it be super cool if you could take a beat from super Mario Cart and do what ever it is you do to make it sound cool.?” So i decided to put that idea into action and see what i could come up with

Heres are the 5 main links I used to draw some knowledge and inspiration from to help gain a little more understanding for the track and ideas for synthesis.

I drew inspiration from that moment and in the same token it turns out that that same night again I was inspired bye my kids when watching a movie and my 19 year old politely comments about “making a bass line that sounds the same as the from the movie Beverly Hills cops staring Wesley snipes”. Heres other list of 5 main websites I thought were a good reference for myself to learn from for the creative structure of the track.

I decided to try and reconstruct the bass line in the same sense but as an idea took 5 keys notes and use them also flipping the melody in reverse and using the ES3 to synthesis a sound that would follow the same beat structure but sound completely different in the quality of the synthesis ideas that i used.

With the creative structure of the melody and the lead sheet I had originally created for this track being very different from what I thought to create originally so i decided to look to the assessment criteria using the assessment guidelines and the exemplar and what I had learnt in class to grab inspiration and ideas.

I found that as the track was only being created for an assessment criteria and not on a labeled structure for release. I must admit that I did struggle with keeping my mind on this track, and would include that it seemed easy to loose time working on this assessment for school.

This track to me I originally thought to be all about synthesis after all that was the main topic for the semester. I tend to over analyse things sometimes. I originally thought my composition for the track was out on things like tempo and synthesis and so I sort advice from a fellow student who gave me advice on quantising the track and were to find good synthesis tutorials. I was happy to find really east to follow and understand tutorials the SAE institute website through our library portal through (link included below.)Please note that this link is only available for full time students who applicants that have a full subscription to the Lynda site.

The track when first mixed together with what ideas I had come up with, at first sounded to loaded with too many parallels built into the various Synth patches that I had created for the track.

I seriously found myself putting hours into things that I would later find out I probably spent to much time on with- in the track when didn’t need to and personally found that I usually would not spend this time on my creative process . I decide by reducing the sound layers of the track that it made me think and realise that it was different from the original sound idea and lead sheet that I had come up with.

No matter, all in all I spent a totally of 56.5 hours over a 2.5 week period from the original start on the aesthetics of the track right through to mastering, mixing, quantising, and class time that was included to finish and get the track for submission. The track is 120 BPM 4/4 timing and concluded in mainly the 5 and 7 notes in Cmaj. Included is a snippet of the track in todays blog feel free to email me any thoughts or comments you may have good or bad i like them all xxx
